Bulgarian Farmers Block Giurgiu-Ruse Border Crossing – Press
The bridge over the Danube will be closed between GMT 1000 and GMT 1600, according to an official statement of the Bulgarian road infrastructure authority. However, the protesters are going to let through cars and buses.
The Bulgarian farmers, who are to protesting mainly against the imports of milk and meat products from the EU and third countries, are also going to block the ferry terminals at the Danube ports of Vidin and Oryahovo.
The farmers have crafted a declaration containing a total of 16 demands for the state support of animal-breeding sector.
The blockade of Bulgaria’s Danube border is organized by the National Milk Producers’ Association headed by Andrian Tsakonski, and has been allowed by the respective municipal authorities.
