Burduja, asked if he will be a liaison emissary with the US: This issue has not been raised

The name of Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja has been circulated to be a liaison emissary in relations with the United States of America, but when asked on Thursday if he will occupy this position, Burduja said that this issue has not been raised. "There were all kinds of speculations and this issue was not raised. Certainly, the role of the United States of America in global politics is a fundamental one and for Romania, it is also a vital one, as a security partner, as an economic development partner and as a partner in the area of research and innovation, all three dimensions being part of the strategic partnership that Romania has with the United States of America. There is a special dynamic in global politics, there is a special dynamic in the foreign relations policy that the United States has at the moment and I am convinced that Romania needs very good people who, together with all those who care about our evolution and our role in NATO, can contribute to this positive relationship", said Burduja, asked about the position of liaison emissary in relations with the US, during a press conference. Asked further if he would accept this position if it were offered to him, Burduja said that he did not want to get "into these speculations". "I am the Minister of Energy, we have many projects in the works and I am glad that almost in every government meeting we manage to solve a problem that may have been from today, yesterday or decades ago. We have large investments, hydroelectric power plants with an advanced stage of execution and there is a dispute with several environmental NGOs that I honestly do not understand because I would think that, being in Romania, they also have the interest of Romanians as their main objective and our interest can only be the energy security of the country", Burduja also said. Burduja was also asked if he would take over the position of Foreign Minister if Emil Hurezeanu were to be dismissed. Burduja said that "out of respect for my government colleagues and for Minister Hurezeanu, for the Prime Minister of Romania, for President Bolojean and the others who have, in practice, the foreign area in their attributions, I do not think it is appropriate for me to make a statement. And it is also a form of respect for the portfolio of the Ministry of Energy, for my colleagues at the ministry". Asked if he had a discussion in the PNL or with the Prime Minister regarding the position of liaison emissary with the US or Foreign Minister, Burduja said that "this issue was not raised". In addition to Sebastian Burduja's name, the name of presidential advisor Dacian Cioloș was also circulated in the public space for the position of Foreign Minister.
