Bush Sorry Macedonia Not Invited To NATO

U.S. president George W. Bush said Thursday he regrets that Macedonia was not invited to joint the Alliance during the summit in Bucharest and the issue related to the country name should be solved quickly, to allow the nation to join NATO.

Bush added Macedonia should stay in dialog with NATO, adding the Alliance will continue enlargement.
 
 
The North Atlantic Council decided Thursday to invite Albania and Croatia into the Alliance, while Macedonia was put on the back-burner, NATO secretary general Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said Thursday.
 
 
Macedonian journalists left the conference room immediately after the announcement.
 
 
The name of the country is disputed by Greece, which has a northern region called Macedonia.
