Businessman Forecloses Bucharest Mayoralty Accounts For EUR17M

Businessman Costica Constanda foreclosed Thursday the accounts of the Bucharest mayoralty for over EUR17 million gained in court for the land owned in Bucharest’s Bordei park, TV network Antena 3 reported.

Constanda told Antena 3 the money was transferred from the mayoralty’s accounts to his own.

Constanda accused Bucharest district 1 mayor Andrei Chiliman of having blocked the exchange of lands agreed on January 18 by city councilors. The district mayoralty did not issue the urbanism permits for the two lands and the exchange coul not be carried out.

In theory, if the paperwork is not completed within the 40 days stipulated in the council decision, the exchange may no longer take place.
