Romanian Unirea Urziceni Misses Qualification In Champion League’s Last 16

Romanian football team Unirea Urziceni Wednesday evening lost 3-1 the away match with German team VfB Stuttgart and missed qualification in the Champions League’s last sixteen, but will play in the last 32 of the Europa League.

Unirea Urziceni missed the chance of becoming the first Romanian team to make it into the last sixteen of the Champions League, but will play in the last 32 of the Europa League where it ranks third in group G with 8 points.

VfB Stuttgart scored through Marica in the 5th minute, Trasch in the 8th minute and Pogrebnyak in the 11th minute.

Unirea Urziceni’s single goal was scored by Semedo in the 46th minute.

Unirea Urziceni’s results in the Champions League’s group G: 0-2 in the away math with FC Sevilla; 1-1 with VfB Stuttgart; 4-1 in the away match with Glasgow Rangers; 1-1 in the home match with Glasgow; 1-0 in the home match with FC Sevilla; and 3-1 in away match with VfB Stuttgart.

UEFA will grant Unirea Urziceni EUR13.7 million for advancing to the Champions League’s groups and for the eight points it scored in group G.
