“Unfortunately, instead of the union, political leaders preferred a populist racket and pathetic administrative hopping. Instead of a coherent vision, the current Government endangers the country’s future with an avalanche of measures which prove themselves disastrous. Romania does not deserve such politicians who lack responsibility towards the country,” said Iohannis.
Present at Iasi, the historical capital of the Moldova region, the president also pointed out the lack of progress in important regional projects.
“Iasi also does not deserve to become a city of promised and delayed projects, especially as we are talking about projects such as the highway and the regional hospital,” the president added.
January 24 is celebrated yearly for the 1859 union of the principalities of Moldova and Wallachia, which formed the basis of the modern Romanian state. This year, to mark 160 years since the event, the city of Iasi will receive the title of “historical capital of Romania”.
