FC Timisoara qualified directly in the groups of the Europa League after it lost to Germany’s VfB Stuttgart on Wednesday in the Champion League play-offs.
CFR Cluj won 2-1 the second-leg tie with Bosnian team FK Sarajevo. The first-leg meeting ended 1-1.
Dinamo Bucharest qualified on Thursday night in the groups of Europa League, after penalty shootout in the second-leg tie with Czech team Slovan Liberec. Dinamo was handed the default defeat following crowd trouble in the home match on August 20, which had ended 0-2 on the field.
Steaua Bucharest qualified in the Europa League groups after Thursday’s 2-1 victory over Irish Saint-Patrick’s Athletics. Steaua had scored three goals in the first-leg tie.
The 2009/10 UEFA Europa League group stage draw is scheduled for Friday, August 28.
