This decision was made in the Government’s meeting on Thursday.

Last summer, the Government doubled the tax on cars with engines larger than 2000 cc. It also decided that owners of multiple houses would pay taxes higher by 65%, 150% and 300%, respectively, for their first, second and next houses which are not their residence.

The higher taxes were implemented through an emergency ordinance. The ordinance was approved by the Parliament, but with an article that stated the taxes were only in effect until December 31, 2011.
