Romania’s January Residential Building Permits Up 2.4% YY

Nearly 67.1% of the building permits issued in January were for residential projects in rural areas, continuing the trend in the last period, it said.

The south-eastern region accounted for the highest increase in the number of building permits released in January 2009, followed by south-western Oltenia region, while Bucharest-Ilfov zone reported the highest decrease of the number of granted permits.

Also, the building permits for residential dwellings were down 42.7% on the year in January, at 4,178.
