Romanian Senate Rejects President’s Request To Revise Fiscal Code Amendments

Basescu had asked lawmakers to eliminate from the Fiscal Code a provision on the computing modality for the tax charged at ownership transfer in case of deals signed between relatives up to second degree and between spouses.

Basescu said the mentioned provision infringes the right to equality of the participants in the real estate market by setting up differentiated computing modalities for relatives and spouses.

On October 9, the Senate’s budget and finance committee debated the reexamination request made by Basescu and rejected it.
