According to Udrea, the ministry wants to attract EUR200 million in EU funds to carry out the projects. She pointed out that unused funds from other projects might be directed to the thermal rehabilitation program.

Udrea said last week local public authorities called on the ministry to identify new financing sources and mechanisms to speed up thermal rehabilitation investments.

Thermal rehabilitation costs are 50% covered by the state, 30% by local authorities and 20% by homeowners, who may take out loans guaranteed by the state with subsidized interest.
