Retrocession Of Romania’s Bran Castle Is Legal- Govt Official

The retrocession of the Bran Castle is legal as many other heirs waived their rights over the castle through legal acts, while passing the castle into private property is legal as well, the Romanian government’s secretary general, Ilie Bolojan, who drew up a note on the matter, said Wednesday.

As far as compensations are concerned, Bolojan stressed that the Brasov County Council and the heirs are to discuss on the matter.

Bolojan said he would submit a report to the deputies on the matter.

The issue of the retrocession has been taken to court for some time now. Romania’s minister of culture and religious affairs Adrian Iorgulescu said late September that only in court can the retrocession of the Bran Castle be ruled as illegal, after deputies adopted the report of the investigation sub-commission, which says that the restitution process was not fair, while the documents legalizing the retrocession are absolutely null.
