The spokesperson with the Neamt County Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, Iulian Jugan, said the blaze started around 17.30 local time, in the household annex (a summer kitchen) if a home with eight children, the oldest aged 10.
The children were alone in the annex that caught fire, and the parents went in to bring them out of the room, the source said.
The parents, as well as the children, suffered burns and are suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning, and were taken to the hospital in three ambulances.
According to the commander of the Neamt County ISU, Ioan Micica, the fire started from a candle left lit.
Fire crews intervened with two trucks but the flames expanded to the roof of the house and destroyed all items in the household.
