His Holiness Teofan Elected Bishop Of Moldova
Thus, His Holiness Teofan was elected Bishop of Moldova and Bucovina, which, according to BOR hierarchy, is the highest rank after that of Patriarch. Teofan’s counter-candidate was his Holiness Casian, bishop of Dunarea de Jos.
Last year, Teofan ran for the position of Patriarch of the Orthodox Church and had His Holiness Daniel as counter-candidate.
Within two months at most, the Holy Synod is to hold polls for the position of Archbishop of Craiova and Bishop of Oltenia.
The Holy Synod also elected Wednesday seven bishops for the bishoprics countrywide and abroad.
