"We cannot define critical periods in 2009. There will be a tough period as regards the buget execution in April or May 2009, but I believe the Government will overcome this period and things will go back to normal after that," Videanu said.

Videanu added the financial crisis could be defined in three ways: financial, economical and psychological, and forecast the Government could find solutions to the economic and financial issues.

The Government and the country’s central bank should focus on increasing the country’s rating, Videanu also said, as Romania is the only EU country rated below "investment grade," that triggered a lower access to international funds, and at higher prices.
