Romanian Leu’s Exch Rate Hits New High At 4.126 Vs Euro

Romania's leu traded in ranges against the euro in mid session Wednesday, but the central bank’s reference continued to strengthen, hitting a 11 months high at 4.126 units, from 4.1439 units a day earlier.

The leu also continued a seven-day rally against the US dollar and touched a fresh 14-month high at 2.9049 units.

The leu opened flat at 4.127/4.128 per euro and traded below 4.13 per euro in the first part of the session.

At around GMT1100, the leu traded at 4.126/4.127 to the euro, after hitting an early high at 4.124 to the euro.

Elsewhere in the region, the Hungary’s forint was up 0.3% against the European common currency, while the Polish zloty was losing 0.1%.

On the money market, overnight rates were slightly down at 2.2%-2.7% a year.
