Danish Jysk To Open Up To 5 Units In ’09 In Romania
The company plans to open stores in Pitesti, Suceava, Constanta cities, and possibly the second unit in Timisoara and its first one in the capital city, Bucharest, according to Steen Hansen, the general manager of Nordic Investments Fund Retail, administrator of Jysk franchise in Romania.
The company plans to hire 80 people this year, to support the network expansion.
As for the exchange rate evolution, Hansen stated the depreciation of the Romanian leu against the euro would negatively impact the company’s turnover this year.
Danish discount network Jysk consists of approximately 1.450 shops, primarily located in Europe.
Other players on the Romanian furniture and decorations market are Mobexpert, IKEA, Elvila, Staer and kika.
