The number of residential constructions finalized in the first quarter of 2010 dropped by 2,610 units compared to the same interval of 2009, at 7,985, the National Statistics Institute, or INS, said Wednesday.

Dwellings finalized in the urban area represented 51.3% of the total residential constructions in the first three months of 2010, similar to the same interval a year earlier, when 50.8% of the apartments were built in the urban area.

The number of dwellings made with private funding dropped in the first quarter this year by 2454, while the number of residential constructions build from public funds dropped by 156 units.
