Morgenstern said she hopes at least one award will go to Romanian director Cristian Mungiu, who has collected several nominations.
"We should all keep our fingers crossed for him," Morgenstern told MEDIAFAX Wednesday.
Morgenstern herself received the EFA best European actress of the year award in 1993 for her role in "Balanta", by Lucian Pintilie.
This year’s Palme d’Or winner "4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days" by Cristian Mungiu is up for the academy’s top distinction. Mungiu has also been nominated for best European director, best European script, and leading actress Anamaria Marinca ahs been nominated for best European actress.
“A fost sau n-a fost” by Romanian director Corneliu Porumboiu is up for the people’s choice award.
