The Supreme Pontiff used a specially designed popemobile for the first time during his visit to travel from the Orthodox Christian People’s Salvation Cathedral, where he uttered a joint Lord’s Prayer together with Romanian Church leader Patriarch Daniel, to the Catholic cathedral.

Pope Francis took several minutes to salute the crowd before entering the Bucharest Archdiocese cathedral, and was met with thunderous applaud by thosands of onlookers.

The Holy Father then held a Mass at the cathedral, followed by a sermon, which officially ended the Bucharest leg of his visit to Romania.

The Pope is scheduled to visit the Marian Sanctuary at Sumuleu-Ciuc and hold a sermon in Iasi on Saturday, before ending his trip on Sunday with a religious ceremony on the Freedom Field in Blaj.
