Romania’s Rompetrol, Petrom Shuts Down Pump Stations Wed Night For VAT Change

The Romanian gas stations of oil companies Rompetrol and OMV Petrom will be shut down for one hour on Wednesday night, to operate the legislative changes on increasing the value added tax to 24%.

Thus, Rompetrol Downstream, the retail division of oil group Rompetrol, will cease activity at its pump stations on Wednesday night, between GMT2100 and GMT2200.

OMV Petrom’s pump stations will be shut down between GMT2030 and GMT2130.

In Romania, the Rompetrol Group, which is owned by Kazakhstan’s KazMunayGas, has 6 fuel warehouses and 450 pump stations.

Petrom, owned by Austria’s OMV, has around 550 pump stations in Romania.

The Government decided Saturday to increase the VAT to 24%, from 19%. The measure will come into force Thursday.
