Romanian natural gas prices should increase by 12% on April 1 and by up to 20% in 2008, due to the rise of prices on the international market, representatives of E.ON Gaz Romania said mid-March.

Romanian gas distributor Distrigaz Sud also that the tariff for imported natural gas should grow in the second quarter between 8% and 12%.

On February 1, ANRE hiked natural gas prices for household consumers by 8.5%.

ANRE said at the end of January that no prices changes would be made in the second quarter.

Romania’s gas consumption stands at nearly 17-18 billion cubic meters. Companies Petrom and Romgaz assure nearly 60-65% of the demand.
