CME Buys Czech Unit Of Mediafax News Agency

The agreement between CET 21 and Mediafax owner MediaPro Management has been signed and is pending registration with the Trade Registry.

"The acquisition will enhance news coverage by TV Nova channel in the Czech Republic," said CME vice-president Romana Tomasova.

As to MEDIAFAX Romania, general manager Cristian Dimitriu said that, despite tough economic challenges, the news agency plans to continue developing its business and resources assigned to other projects will be poured into Romanian projects.

"MEDIAFAX plans to develop its business and continue investments in Romania, despite the economic crisis. Resources assigned to other projects will be directed to the Romanian market, where the agency has a real growth potential in the following years," Dimitriu said.

MEDIAFAX Czech Republic was launched in June 2008 and has grown widely appreciated by its clients, both in the public and private sectors, for the accuracy, speed, objectivity and professionalism of its coverage.

CME is a broadcasting company operating leading networks in seven Central and Eastern European countries with an aggregate population of approximately 97 million people.

The company's television stations are located in Bulgaria (PRO.BG and RING.BG), Croatia (Nova TV), Czech Republic (TV Nova, Nova Cinema and Nova Sport), Romania (PRO TV, PRO TV International, Acasa, PRO Cinema, Sport.ro and MTV Romania), Slovakia (TV Markíza and Doma), Slovenia (POP TV, Kanal A and TV Pika) and Ukraine (Studio 1+1, Studio 1+1 International and Kino).

CME is traded on the NASDAQ and the Prague Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol "CETV".
