Romanian Leu Exch Rate Hits 6-Wks High At RON4.0821 Vs Euro

A strongest rate, of RON4.0805 per euro, was set on February 1. It is the leu’s highest level against the euro for 2010.

For the US dollar, Wednesday’s indicative reached RON2.9597, 1% stronger on the day.

The leu opened slightly higher at RON4.086/RON4.089 to the euro from RON4.089/RON4.091 at Tuesday’s closing and further gained ground, amid low volumes.

At around GMT1100, the leu traded at RON4.080/RON4.082 per euro.

On the money market Wednesday, overnight rates were little changed at 2.75%-3.25% a year.
