EC Recommends Romania Tightens Fiscal Policy, Reduces Bureaucracy

The European Commission recommended Romania should tighten its fiscal policy and reduce bureaucracy, European Commissioner for Multilingualism Leonard Orban said Monday.

“The EC’s evaluation is very clear. Romania has to enact its structural reform program, primarily focused on macroeconomic stability, by a strict control of fiscal measures and inflation and by reducing bureaucracy and improving administration,” Orban said.

He said the government should also lift the “administrative burdens” imposed on companies.

“To control public spending and improve its quality, the entire administration must enact a fiscal framework on the medium-term, based on mandatory programs,” Orban mentioned.
