Against the US dollar, the leu’s indicative lost a similar 0.2% on the day at 3.3485 units, from 3.3414 Thursday.
The Romanian leu opened flat against the euro on Friday, but eased shortly after, until touching an intraday low at 4.2405/4.2410 units at about GMT0930.
Afterwards, the leu gained some ground on significant euro sales, and dealers suspect an indirect intervention of the central bank to temper the local currency’s depreciation.
At GMT1000, the leu traded at 4.237/4.238 to the euro.
On the monetary market Friday morning, overnight rates were flat on the day at 2.3%-2.8% a year.
