Code Orange Warning of Heavy Rain Issued for 23 Counties and Capital

Twenty-three counties throughout Romania and its capital will be under the effect of a code orange of heavy rain, beginning with Friday, 15.00 local time, according to Romania’s National Meteorological Administration (ANM).

According to ANM, the warning will be in effect until Saturday, 10.00 local time, and will concern Bucharest and the following counties: Brasov, Covasna, Prahova, Dambovita, Arges, Valcea, Gorj, Sibiu, Alba, Caras Severin, Hunedoara , Bacau, Vaslui, Vrancea, Galati, Buzau, Braila, Tulcea, Ialomita, Constanta, Ilfov, Calarasi and Giurgiu.

In Bucharest, the warning will enter into effect during the visit of Pope Francis on Friday.

Windstorms, frequent lightning and hail is expected especially in eastern and southeastern Romania. Water quantities in most of the affected areas will reach 40-50 liters sq. meters, and even 60-80 in specific areas.
