Romanian meteorologists on Wednesday issued a code yellow hot weather advisory valid Thursday through Saturday for the country’s southern and eastern regions, where temperatures will exceed 35 degrees Celsius.

According to the advisory, in the August 12-15 interval, the weather will be hot and excessively hot in the afternoon, when the heat index, which combines air temperature and humidity to determine the felt air temperature, will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units.

Temperatures will frequently exceed 35 degrees Celsius, mainly in the south and east of the country, according to meteorologists.

Heavy rain, thunderstorms, gusty wind and even hail are expected in hilly and mountainous areas, they also said.
