Romania’s National Meteorological Administration (ANM) issued a warning for very cold weather throughout the entire country until Friday, with Bucharest and 16 counties to be under a code yellow warning for strong winds and snowfall on Wednesday.

According to ANM, the areas under the effect of the code yellow warning will see sustained bouts of strong winds, snowstorms and the formation of layers of snow and ice.

The code yellow will be in force on Wednesday, between 2.00 and 20.00 local time for Bucharest and Prahova, Dambovita, Arges, Valcea, Dolj, Vrancea, Galati, Buzau, Braila, Tulcea, Ialomita, Constanta, Calarasi, Giurgiu, Teleorman and Olt counties.

Winds will reach speeds of up to 40-75 km/h in the affected regions, with visibility ranges expected to fall below 100 meters.

Temperatures will be in the negatives for most regions of the country during the day, with values of -10 degrees Celsius expected during the nights in the country’s north, northeastern and central regions until Friday.
