Police said the accident took place near a hypermarket late Wednesday. According to a witness, the two women, aged 23, were thrown a few meters away from the crossing, because the driver of a BMW X5 did not adapt the speed and did not give them the right of way. The driver also hit three cars parked in the area.
The two women were taken to hospital. One of them had femoral fractures and a severe hepatic trauma, but her condition is now stable, while the other, who was married and had a child, died at the hospital because of severe brain damage.
Immediate testing for alcohol indicated the driver had not been drinking.
