Romanian transporter federation FORT asked the Government to tax profit in differentiated manner, with 10% to 30%, in order to stimulate production and ease the crisis.

Thus, according to FORT, the tax on profit should drop to 10% for producers of raw materials, it should remain at 16% for service providers and it should grow to 30% for all commercial activities.

According to FORT, there are up to six firms interposed between the producer and the end user, which causes the price to grow.

„This is why commerce, as mere intermediation, needs to be discouraged, and this can only be done by higher taxes,” a FORT press release reads, adding such a measure would reduce corruption by taking out the middle man, especially in contracts with the state.
