The two countries will ask Austria’s support in the project, as Community funds are granted to partnerships formed of three or more member states, Romanian under secretary of state Attila Cseke said Tuesday.

He said the issue will be discussed in a joint meeting of the Romanian and Hungarian governments, scheduled for October 21.

In November last year, Romania and Hungary decided to build together a high-speed rail line on the route Budapest-Bucharest-Constanta, which will require funds estimated at several billion of euros.

Romanian Transport Minister Ludovic Orban said at the time the construction was set for completion in 2015.
