Romanian Senate Set For Speedy Enactment Of Fiscal Liability Law

The Senate quaestor, social democrat Ion Chelaru, said Monday the legislative initiative, which was pushed with the approval of all Parliament party leaders, will be discussed with urgency following a decision of the Senate’s Standing Office.

The IMF asked for the approval of the state budget law by December 10, when the IMF board meeting takes place, Romanian President Traian Basescu sadi Friday after a meeting with the IMF mission.

The head of state said another IMF request refers to the fiscal liability law. He added the promulgation of the unitary wage and government agency reorganization laws is one of the obligations honored by Romania within the agreement concluded with the IMF.
