The Chamber of Deputies had initially decided to resume, during the first plenary meeting after the Parliament’s summer recess, the votes on the prosecution of Nastase, a law of chambers of commerce and the law regarding Romania’s public radio and television networks. Lawmakers said they changed their minds to avoid creating precedents.

The initial vote was contested by social democrats and the Hungarian minority party, who accused Chamber speaker Roberta Anastase of breaking the Chamber rulebook.

The final decision was made with an overwhelming majority of votes, as only one vote was against.
