Romanian road transporters protested Monday on ring roads around capital city Bucharest and another 18 cities throughout the country, demanding lower taxes, cheaper fuel and better road infrastructure.

Transport minister Ludovic Orban said he agreed to some of the claims, but added others are contradictory. Transporters demand the elimination of road tolls while urging authorities to build better roads. However, the national roads company’s main budget source for the construction and improvement of roads is the road toll.
