Romania Energy Prices Unchanged In ’10; Gas Prices Could Rise – Regulator

Romania's energy prices will remain at their current levels until January 2011, but natural gas prices might be adjusted for the 2009 inflation sometime this year, the country’s energy regulator ANRE said Tuesday.

„Gas prices will certainly not rise in April, but I believe that later (in the year) will have to index them to the 2009 inflation,” said Petru Lificiu, president of ANRE.

The Romanian central bank’s base inflation scenario for 2010 includes a 5% rise in natural gas prices, a 4% increase in energy prices and 5.2% higher thermal energy prices.
