The INS revised upwards the 2006 GDP figure to 7.9% from the previous 7.7%, the Romanian central bank said in a report.
The INS said that GDP totaled an estimated 404.7 billion lei ($163 billion) last year.
In the fourth quarter of 2007, GDP grew 6.6% on the year in real terms, compared with 7.7% growth in the corresponding period a year earlier.
Romania’s economic growth has been robust in recent years, increasing by an average 6.5% per year between 2003 and 2006. The country’s forecasting commission expects economic growth of 6.5% in 2008.
The INS said it would give further details on full-year GDP at a press conference Mar. 12.
