Nearly A Quarter Of Cars Enrolled In Romania Car Fleet Renewal Program Still Not Sold
Romania’s Environment Fund Administration (AFM) said Monday that only 30,466 cars, of a total 40,000 that were to be partly financed by the state in the 2008 edition of the “junk car” program, were bought, which means 30,466 cars older than 12 years were scrapped based on the RON3,000 scrapping bonus offered by the state.
The final data collected by AFM indicate that 2,082 cars under the brands of Skoda, Volkswagen, Audi or Seat were not sold via the program, while 2,074 Opel and Chevrolet cars and 1,489 Fiat cars were not sold either.
Almost half the Hyundai cars included in the program, namely 1,214, were not sold either.
However, Dacia was the best-sold brand, considering that, of almost 10,000 cars, less than 900 were not sold.
