The proceedings were rescheduled for April 15, as Diana Gasparovici, a defendant, is abroad and her lawyer has asked for an interval to prepare her defense.

As the court adjourned, Nastase stated “it is only a political case”, claiming it was “ordered” by President Traian Basescu, who is “the director of this show.”

Nastase provided the press with a report by the special Commission charged with investigating claims of fraudulent behavior by Government members, regarding Traian Basescu during his time as Minister for Transportation.

Prosecutors with the National Anti-Corruption Department (DNA) indicted  Nastase on January 20, charging him with influence-peddling.
