"The operationalization of the Authority for the Digitization of Romania and the digitization of the General Secretariat of the Government are priorities of my term because we wish that by informing the public administration we will rebuild confidence in the state institutions. In this period, as the population is in a difficult situation, it is essential that people are well informed, from official and verified sources. In this regard, the online platform COVID-19 Official News has been launched, whose main objective is to combat misinformation and fake news", Government's general secretary Antonel Tănase said.
According to a statement by the Strategic Communication Group, on Tuesday, the COVID-19 online platform Ştiri Oficiale centralizes only information from secured sources, such as the official announcements of the Strategic Communication Group constituted by the Government of Romania, the decisions of the National Committee for Special Emergency Situations and the conference records press releases of officials with responsibilities in the field of emergency management.
"The COVID-19 Official News project is implemented on the basis of a collaboration protocol signed between the General Secretariat of the Government and the non-governmental organization Code for Romania. At the same time, in order to support the recommendations given by the Ministry of Health, regarding the social conduct responsible for preventing the spread of COVID-19 and in accordance with the indications of the National Committee for Special Emergency Situations, the Authority for the Digitization of Romania and the Code for Romania team are working on the following platforms: Daily data - anonymous data on cases, Stăm Acasă (Staying at Home) - centralization and monitoring of persons in self-isolation, Diaspora Hub - centralization and monitoring / communication support, What I do - questionnaires that can help the population to understand the situation and RO Help - collection consistent and secure aid", GCS announced.
"The zero priority of the Authority for the Digitization of Romania these days is to make available to citizens and public institutions any electronic solution that can lead to the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 virus. We are talking about platforms for information, communication or management of public services that help citizens make the right decisions and limit their exposures. We thank the volunteers who help us in this endeavor, as well as the institutions that have understood that technology can be more useful than ever for Romanian citizens everywhere", Sabin Sărmaş, head of the Romanian Digitalization Authority, said.
