Romanian Lower Chamber’s Special Committees OK Public Sector Pension-Wage Cumulus

The Romanian Chamber of Deputies’ committee for budget and finance and the labor committee on Tuesday approved the draft law proposed by opposition liberals, which eliminates the interdiction to cumulate pensions and wages in the public sector, said labor committee head Victor Paul Dobre.

The draft law aims at amending Law 329/2009 on public spending, with a view to eliminate the measure banning pensioners who work in the public sector from receiving both pensions and wages.

Dobre said the two committees drew up a favorable report to the draft law, which had been rejected by the Senate.

The draft act will be up for vote in the Chamber of Deputies, which has the final say on the matter.
