Boc said the investment reprioritization process will begin Monday in all ministries. The funds will be redirected toward construction materials to be employed in rebuilding houses and the infrastructure.
The Prime Minister said that, with the aid of local county councils, prefects’ offices, companies and business people, all the houses damaged or destroyed by the floods are rebuilt before winter.
Boc arrived Sunday in the heavily flood-hit village of Zamostea, where he talked to flood evacuees and promised them their homes would be rebuilt before winter.
During the past few days, Boc and Romanian President Traian Basescu have visited several towns and villages affected by the recent floods, in the counties of Suceava, Botosani, Bacau and Galati. Boc and Basescu talked with the locals, promising them dams would be built and victims would receive flood relief.
Twenty-three people have died in the severe floods that hit Romania over the past two weeks and thousands have been evacuated from their homes.
A heavy rainfall alert is still in place for 16 counties until Monday morning.
