Romania Climbs One Spot In ’08 IT Competitiveness Hierarchy – EIU Study

Romania ranked 39 out of 64 countries included in the IT competitiveness hierarchy drawn up by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), one position higher than in 2007, but still behind most countries that joined the European Union in 2004 and 2007.

Bulgaria ranked 45, behind Romania, but Cyprus and Malta were not included in the study made by EIU.

Of the countries that entered the EU in 2004, Estonia ranked 24, followed by Slovenia (26), Hungary (28), the Czech Republic (29), Slovakia (31), Poland (32), Latvia (34) and Lithuania (35).

The U.S.A. ranked first, with 74.6 points, followed by Taiwan with 69.2 points and Great Britain with 67.2 points.

Romania obtained 32.3 points.

The scores were calculated taking into consideration the overall business environment, IT infrastructure, human capital, legislative environment, research and development environment and support for IT industry development.
