Sources within the eastern Romanian Vrancea county police department said the two officers detained Friday were caught in the act of soliciting a RON2,000 bribe each from an undercover police officer.

They were on duty in the Marasesti area.

The sting was organized when the Romanian General Police Inspectorate received several notifications signaling such conduct.

Marius Milea and Nicolae Rotaru were heard for more than three hours by prosecutors within the Galati Court of Appeal.
