Dacia Sandero Launched In UK Jan ‘09

Automobile Dacia SA, the Romanian unit of French carmaker Renault, will have its five-door hatch Sandero traded on the British market as of January next year, Renault UK managing director Roland Bouchara said Thursday, quoted by just-auto.com.

Dacia Sandero will be traded in the UK at prices beginning with GBP8,000 ($16,000), Bouchara said.

Sandero, whose official presentation took place at the Geneva Motor Show in March, will be available for trading on the Romanian, Bulgarian and Turkish markets as of June, according to Dacia president Francois Fourmont.

He said Sandero is expected to arrive in 40 countries by the end of 2008.

The hatchback will cost EUR9,500 tops in Romania (GBP7,500 or $14,860 based on the exchange reference rates computed by Romanian central bank on April 3 e.n.).

Sandero is based on the Renault Sandero model, which is traded in Brazil and Argentina.

The model comes in four engine versions, two on gas and two diesels, respectively.

Renault invested EUR147 million in the development and production of Dacia Sandero in Europe.
