Romania’s Foreign Tourism Promotion Budget Inadequate, Should Be Increased – TUI
Grosse estimates that the number of German tourists coming to Romania through TUI could grow, provided the Romanian Government invested more into promotion on the German market.
„With such an inadequate EUR5 million budget you can only attend a few fares. For the German market alone, Bulgaria’s promotion budget is over EUR10 million and Austria invests more than EUR20 million,” Grosse said.
He added that the low budget also makes it impossible to promote the country’s brand and expand to other markets, such as Scandinavia, which TUI regards as one of the most important.
German Group TUI, one of the world’s leading tour operators, will resume operations on the Romanian market as of 2010. Romania is included in the operators’ catalogues as of November 2009.
In 2006, TUI discarded its flights to Romania and eliminated Romanian destinations from its catalogues, citing bad accommodation conditions, high hotel prices, too much noise and dirty resorts.
