Romanian Transgaz Not Yet Notified On Resumed Russian Gas Imports

Romania's state-owned gas pipeline operator Transgaz (TGN.RO) has not been notified yet on Russia’s resuming of gas imports halted for almost two weeks now, the manager of the company’s commercial supply unit Marius Stroia told MEDIAFAX Tuesday.

Romania will receive gas in minimum 36 hours from Russian Gazprom resumes supplies, Stroia added.

"We have not received any notification yet," Stroia said.

According to news agency AFP, citing the spokesperson of Ukrtransgaz operator, Ukraine has been receiving gas as of Tuesday morning but the supply to Europe shall be delayed by a couple of hours from the initially deadline on technical procedures. Gazprom official had said the gas supply shall be resumed at GMT 0700.

Russian natural gas monopoly Gazprom decided early January to halt natural gas deliveries towards Europe via Ukraine, on the latter refusing to pay a debt claimed by Moscow and on not setting an agreement to significantly increase gas prices.

Russia exports via Ukraine around 80% of the gas targeting Europe.
