Romanian Stocks Continue Fall After Trading Resumes

The Romanian shares extended their losses on Monday, after trading on the Bucharest Stock Exchange resumed following a half an hour halt.

At 0838 GMT, the Bucharest Stock Exchange suspended trading for half an hour, on a steep decline of the main shares.

At suspension time, the bourse’s main index BET was down 8.89% on the day, while the composite index BET-C fell 9.06% on the day.

After trading resumed at 0910 GMT, the shares continued to fall. At GMT 0937, the BET index was 9.60% in the red, to 2,546.61 units while the BET-C was down 9.83% to 1,916.41 units.

The Stock Exchange management also suspended trading for an hour on Friday, as most of the shares plummeted by more than 12%.
