According to the press release, Tokes invited the Dalai Lama to Romania in December 2008, when the Tibetan spiritual leader and Samdong Rinpoche, the head of the Tibetan government in exile, were in Brussels. At the time, the Dalai Lama met with the European Parliament group for Tibet, of which MEP Laszlo Tokes is a member.
"In 2009, we agreed with the Dalai Lama's cabinet about His Holiness' possible schedule and according to a letter sent to the office of MEP Tokes Laszlo, the Tibetan leader will spend two days in Transylvania some time in September, when he will also visit Hungary," the press release said.
According to the cited source, the Dalai Lama will travel to Chiurus, Covasna County in central Romania, the birthplace of Sandor Korosi Csoma, author of the first Tibetan-English dictionary. The spiritual leader of Tibet will lay a wreath at Csoma's statue and then hold a conference in Sfantu Gheorghe, the seat of Covasna County.
