Romania Might Introduce Annual Tax On Motorcycles, Depending On Emissions

The law which will replace the Romanian car pollution tax will go through Parliament this year and will provide for the annual taxation of motorcycles, according to the quantity of emissions, Romanian environment minister Nicolae Nemirschi said Tuesday.

Nemirschi said he will model the law on the German version, whereby the sum paid by the vehicle owner contains several elements, such as the engine’s cylindrical capacity and level of CO2 emissions.

The minister mentioned that once the law comes into force, vehicle owners will not have to pay extra when they register it.
